KATSAPA and INGGIDS: Two Waray Songs

KATSAPA

May katsapa nga dinapa sa bangalog
Nga nagtatabag sin kosta nga hininog.
May man tango pero lunod, di natukob
Dakpa iton kay im' sangod.

TOAD

A frog there was that crawled into a trench
In its mouth a ripe kosta banana.
It had teeth but they're hidden, it won't bite.
Catch it, for that's your amulet.

INGGIDS

May ako inggids nga bag-o, pero daan,
Halipot an liog, tandos la an kupsan.
Akon 'pangutan-an kun sin-o an ngaran,
Si Mr. Tanduay nga adto sa tindahan.

INGGIDS

I have a new lover, but really an old one,
Short of neck, smooth the handle.
I ask what his name is.
It's Mr. Tanduay , who's there in that store.

*kupsan - waist in N.Samar
